A Birthday!

My hubby celebrated a birthday yesterday! Including a few photos of the celebration! Actually it spanned a week, with eating lunch/breakfast at a variety of places. He had to get in his free birthday rewards at some of the dining places!

We worked in a game of mini-golf. And the winner was……..Yes I Kathy …AGAIN walked away with the winning score. 6 strokes less than the birthday boy! HA!! There was some muttering about the breeze moving his golf ball…yada yada yada!

Then at our breakfast place, our wonderful waitress, Rhonda, brought the birthday boy a piece of birthday cake! We will be eating that later!! She added a bunch of cream on top and a candle!!

Winding up the birthday with family meeting at Norm’s Ice Cream! Had wonderful ice cream and talk and birthday boy opening a gift. He is wearing one of them a MSU hat!

Moved from Facebook to Instagram and my blog

I have made a decision, a hard one, to leave Facebook at least for now. My postings will be on my Instagram and this blog. Anyone who wants to follow either one, the Instagram Icon is on the right of this post and if you want to follow this blog, there is a spot to fill in your email on the right of this post also.

Went on a mini vacay to Ohio. I posted some photos on Instagram and more photos here. Enjoyed the the Columbus Zoo, Easton Town Center shopping, including the American Girl Doll Store, The Lego Store, Barnes and Noble, and others. Ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, as always, the food delicious and cheesecake amazing!

Christmas Cookies/ Desserts and some new ornaments

First Merry Christmas! I’m Back AGAIN after a long hiatus. My last real post was about our kitchen remodel. Remodel it was! We finished the remodel just in time to decided if we wanted to sell our house or not. THAT was not in the plan when the kitchen remodel began. We found a lot that we wanted to build on. After many decisions, talking with builders, our house went up for sale and sold in 7 days. We are now in the process of building a new home. Staying in the same town, just out in the township. Some updates of the new house build will be in future posts

I thought the best way to celebrate posting again on my blog would be sharing some yummy food! Soooo sharing some recipes I have found for Christmas cookies, desserts, and quick breads. Most I have not tried, but will be trying most for this Christmas. (note: all photos of the recipes come from the recipe link)

Cake Balls The best ever! From Dinner at the Zoo. We make them every Christmas!

Our little twists in making our Cake Balls:

We use the milk chocolate Candiquick fast drying chocolate

Have fun decorating them: we use multi-colored sprinkles, tiny beads, or sprinkle confettii, or you can use one color on each cake ball, or use sprinkles disks or drizzle frosting on the top of the ball, or dip in finely crushed candy canes or finely crushed nuts!

And last but NOT least!! 40 quick Christmas Bread Recipes from Taste of Home

Great for gift-giving!

Every year I buy a new ornament or two (or three….)

Below are the ones for this year. going more farmhouse/rustic on some of them. Made of wood and they go so well with my wood bead garland. The JOY one is a 3D type and the glass is etched and the “snow” in the bottom can be moved around.

And the last photo… in our apartment (as we await our move to living in a house again!) Our fireplace with the tree reflected in the tv screen. I couldn’t live without my fireplace. And YES we will have a fireplace (gas log) in our living room of the new house!
